***UPDATED*** Friday Photo Flashback ~ Going on 2?

***UPDATE***
My sister has informed me that, if you look closely, you can see that what is on my left foot is a sock. What is on my right foot is a knee high stocking. Apparently, as can be seen by the look on my face, I was most excited to show everyone what I had put on... or almost on! Ha! At least I matched how far on my other sock was! :o)

Me and my daddy. Deductive reasoning leads me to believe this was 1977 since I was born in April, this looks like summer, and I am definitely older than a few months. Probably more like a year and a few months. :0)

Sun bonnets were a staple of my childhood. Is it any wonder with this ghost~white skin of mine? Lol! :o)

Thanks to my big sister for sending me a bunch of digital pics from long ago! I'm all stocked up for a bunch of weeks, now!!! :o)

Friday Photo Flashback ~ 1978!

For once, I know exactly when this picture was taken! Thanks to family who put dates on their pictures! LOL! :-) Not that I was around when this picture was taken because a.) I had not met D.T. yet, and b.) I was only 2 years + 1 and a 1/2 months old! Ha! Hmm... I wonder what I was doing back then? ;-) Oh, the things that happened halfway around the world before we even knew each other existed.


This was taken after the wedding of D.T.'s older sister. To her left, um... actually her right, your left is D.T.'s beautiful mother. Above her is D.T.'s dad. Groom behind the bride. Groom's mother (I think) to the bride's left (your right). Next to her is D.T.'s oldest sister with her second child. Don't know the two people behind her. On the left side of the picture, as you look at it, is D.T.'s first nephew from his oldest sister, then D.T. above him, then D.T.'s brother above him. He's coming to visit us next week! Woohoo! We can't wait!!! D.T.'s mom came to visit us once about 10 years ago, but this is the first time since then that someone from his family will be traveling to see us in the States! I'll be sure to show you updated pictures of the two brothers later on. :-)

I may have shared this picture once before. There are too many posts to go back through to check, and I don't really remember. Even if I did, though, it is worth sharing again! The picture on the left was D.T. when he was little. I don't know how old. Maybe 3? Looks about right. He loved music even way back then. The hat is hysterical, though! Ha! The picture on the right is in the mid to late 90's at a Mexican restaurant up north for D.T.'s birthday. He wasn't super thrilled with the whole sombrero thing, but I found it rather amusing. ;-) I think the picture on the left was perhaps a prediction of things to come. LOL! Yes, now I am remembering. I think I did share this picture once before. Hold on a minute... aaahhh yes, here it is! So what if I repeat myself?!? Sometimes, I just don't know what to post. Plus, that was all the way back in 2008 when we were first working on the album for our adoption! My, my, how time flies!



Have a great weekend, everyone! I may or may not be around much, depending how my group proposal goes. It's due next weekend, but I want to finish it up this weekend.

Ok, so I am really bad at calculating dates and years, but one thing I can say for almost certain is that this was little ol' me in first grade! :-) Yeah, I am pretty sure this was not a kindergarten picture, although I guess it could have been.


I know that it was not second grade, because I did not have a perm yet.

I used to not like the way I looked, but now I wish I still looked a little more like that. I actually don't mind the perm in this particular picture.

Today's picture comes from sometime around 1983, I think. At first, I wasn't sure if this picture was me in the 1st or 2nd grade, but if I stop and think about it, I'm pretty sure it is 2nd grade. After all, that is the year I started getting the perms that followed me all the way into the beginning of the 21st century. ;-)

This picture was taken of D.T. in the hospital after the Romanian Revolution of 1989. Like many others in the military there, he was shot and wounded, and very lucky blessed to be alive. Many, many others were not so fortunate, and that could have been him. He spent 2 months recovering in the hospital and dealing with blood clots in his leg after having surgery to repair his injuries.


Today, I choose joy in my husband, and I am so grateful that God spared his life.

I have been looking for this picture for awhile now, and finally ran across it! I figured the easiest way to get it digital was to take a picture of the picture. ;-)


This is me and my future flower girl when she was just a baby. :-) So cute! Our families went to the same church. What is up with my glasses, though? Oh. my. goodness! I was about 13 in this picture.



Here we are on my wedding day.



...and here she is NOW! What a lovely young lady she has become! Oh my, though! I'm starting to feel just a tad bit old. ;-)

Friday Photo Flashback ~ 1970

Yes, I know I wasn't even born yet in 1970, but I wanted to do something a little different today.

I know, I know. Breakin' the rules again! Just call me the rule-breaker! ;-)

Last night, I was baking a cake for work, and, of course I had to take a picture. Right? Right! I mean, I know y'all take pictures of your food, too. Right? Right!

Yum!

Anywho.

I also happened to have a few dishes out that I cleaned out from our cupboard the other day. Dishes are my passion. I have way too many of them, and I needed to make room for... more... what? Why, dishes, of course!

So... food + dishes = what else? Pictures! Hehehe! All of my passions! Food + dishes + pictures!!!

Now, I know that somebody, somewhere out there had these dishes growing up, too! Come on. Admit it! :-)

We always called them our white dishes with the little green flowers. I checked them out online, and they are called: Spring Blossom Green by Corelle. Very popular back in the 1970's!

I'm still going to keep some for everyday, but I just don't have room for all of them anymore. So, I'm passing these few on to my sister to add to her collection. My mom gave both of us some a few years back when she got new ones. We did have lots of them, after all. My mom had a set. My grandma had a set. Of course, now, her new ones keep breaking, and these old ones? They never break. NEVER!

Today, I choose joy in my family and memories. I love thinking back to the people and times (past and present) that these dishes remind me of.

So, today, I am participating in Friday Photo Flashback, as hosted by Alicia at More Than Words, and once again my photo is not exactly pre-digital, although it does take me back! Guess I just don't like to follow the rules. You'll forgive me when you see my cute picture! ;-) Plus, I've been too busy to dig out old photos and scan them. Glad we do live in the digital age!

This was the first time we met our little (now big) Goldie Marie! Even now, she still loves to give *kisses*! I love her eyes in this picture!!!

This photo I have chosen today is of D.T. cooking at the Sicilian restaurant he used to work at in PA. I LOVE the action in this shot. Man, was he good! Actually, he still is. Customers used to ask who was cooking that night, and he still gets asked about his stuff when we go back to visit.


All I can say is, Hey, he's all mine! ;0)
