Mid-Day Meditations ~ 1 Peter 1:3-8

His divine power has given us everything
we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him
who called us by His own glory and goodness.

Through these He has given us His
very great and precious promises,
so that through them you may
participate in the divine nature
and escape the corruption in the world
caused by evil desires.

For this very reason, make every effort to
add to your faith goodness;
and to goodness, knowledge;

and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control,
perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;

and to godliness, brotherly kindness;
and to brotherly kindness, love.

For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure,
they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive
in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mid-Day Meditations ~ Hebrews 10:32-39

Hebrews 10:32-39
New Living Translation

Don't ever forget those early days
when you first learned about Christ.
Remember how you remained faithful
even though it meant terrible suffering.

Sometimes you were exposed
to public ridicule and were beaten,
and sometimes you helped others
who were suffering the same things.

You suffered along with those
who were thrown into jail.
When all you owned was taken from you,
you accepted it with joy.
You knew you had better things
waiting for you in eternity.

Do not throw away this
confident trust in the Lord,
no matter what happens.
Remember the great reward it brings you!

Patient endurance is what you need now,
so you will continue to do God's will.
Then you will receive all that He has promised.

"For in just a little while,
the Coming One will come and not delay.

And a righteous person will live by faith.
But I will have no pleasure
in anyone who turns away."

But we are not like those who
turn their backs on God and seal their fate.
We have faith that assures our salvation.

Mid-Day Meditations: "Hey, God! It's me... the PEST!"

I listened to this message by Pastor Jack Graham while I was home for lunch today. It was really good and encouraged me to be more persistent in my prayers and more relentless in my faith. I would encourage you to listen to it if you get the chance!

Matthew 15:28
Then Jesus answered,
"Woman, you have great faith!
Your request is granted."
And her daughter was healed
from that very hour.

~She was DARING!
~She was DESPERATE!
~She was DETERMINED!
~She was DELIVERED!

How about you? Are you daring, desperate, and determined like the Canaanite woman? Do you want to be delivered?

Ask [keep on asking]
and it will be given to you;
seek [keep on seeking]
and you will find;
knock [keep on knocking]
and the door will be opened to you.

Don't let go or quit... be like Jacob who held on for the blessing of God! Hold on to HOPE!

Delight yourself in the Lord
and He will give you
the desires of your heart.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Mid-Day Meditations ~ Belief!

The following passage and notes come from Biblegateway.com. Emphasis, mine.

Hebrews 3
Jesus Is Greater Than Moses

1 And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and[a] are partners with those called to heaven, think carefully about this Jesus whom we declare to be God’s messenger[b] and High Priest. 2 For he was faithful to God, who appointed him, just as Moses served faithfully when he was entrusted with God’s entire[c] house.

3 But Jesus deserves far more glory than Moses, just as a person who builds a house deserves more praise than the house itself. 4 For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God.

5 Moses was certainly faithful in God’s house as a servant. His work was an illustration of the truths God would reveal later. 6 But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our HOPE in Christ.[d]

7 That is why the Holy Spirit says,

“Today when you hear his voice,
8 don’t harden your hearts
as Israel did when they rebelled,
when they tested me in the wilderness.
9 There your ancestors tested and tried my patience,
even though they saw my miracles for forty years.
10 So I was angry with them, and I said,
‘Their hearts always turn away from me.
They refuse to do what I tell them.’
11 So in my anger I took an oath:
‘They will never enter my place of rest.’”[e]

12 Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters.[f] Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. 13 You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. 14 For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. 15 Remember what it says:

“Today when you hear his voice,
don’t harden your hearts
as Israel did when they rebelled.”[g]

16 And who was it who rebelled against God, even though they heard his voice? Wasn’t it the people Moses led out of Egypt? 17 And who made God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it the people who sinned, whose corpses lay in the wilderness? 18 And to whom was God speaking when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? Wasn’t it the people who disobeyed him? 19 So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest.

Mid-Day Meditations ~ Revelation 4:8

Revelation 4:8
New International Version

Each of the four living creatures
had six wings and was covered
with eyes all around,
even under his wings.
Day and night they never stop saying:
"Holy, Holy, Holy
IS THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY,
WHO WAS, AND IS,
AND IS TO COME."

Mid-Day Meditations ~ Reminders of His promise...

Recently, God has provided encouragement to my heart by reminding me of His promise to me in one way or another through the following verses. These have come to me through the Proverbs 31 daily email ministry, and I pray that they may speak to you as well as you meditate on them today.

"Master, we've worked hard all night
and haven't caught anything.
But because you say so, I will let down the nets." Luke 5:5 (NIV)

"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

"So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide.
And to this day it is said, 'On the mountain of the LORD
it will be provided.'" Genesis 22:14 (NIV)

"For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver.
You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs.
You let men ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water,
but you brought us to a place of abundance."
Psalm 66:10-12 (NIV)

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

"We have this hope as an anchor
for the soul, firm and secure…" Hebrews 6:19 (NIV)
