The JOY Challenge: Day 28

I am linking with Holley from in(courage) on her 40 day journey to choose joy. Won't you join us? If you would like to jump back to day 1 of my journey, click here. Or, to jump back to day 1 of her journey, click here.

My evenings have been so much more pleasant and tolerable lately. Yesterday morning, I heard an old sermon on television by this man. Funny... no, a God thing, really. It was the same sermon I played on CD over and over last semester to get me through the really hard class I was taking.

Don't ever, ever, ever quit!

Anywho. Something that he said stuck out to me, that hadn't before. He said... paraphrasing here... sometimes doing the same thing over and over, day in and day out, can cause you to get depressed. True that!!! Amen! Preach it, brother!

I think that has been part of my problem. You know? With the known vs. the unknown. Doing the same thing day in and day out. It can be depressing. Well, the last few nights have been anything but depressing. For sure, they have been different.

Last night, a coworker from the maintenance side of our organization came over to work on the tile in our kitchen floor.

Wanna know why??? Huh? Do ya? Well, take a look.

What? You see a problem with that too? Hmmm... wish the company that did it saw a problem with it. Unfortunately, they don't return phone calls or come back to fix their mistakes. By the way, if you live near me and want to know the name of the company that did this, just ask. I am more than happy to tell you who they are!

Anywho, again. Here is the God-thing. A primary reason that the floor looks like this is because the company did a poor job initially laying the floor. Tiles became loose and needed replaced. Unfortunately, by the time that happened, that particular tile was no longer produced and there was no more of that dye lot anywhere to be found.

What is a girl and her sweet hubby to do?

Well, when others won't take responsibility where it is due, you take the responsibility on yourself, and you call skilled and trustworthy workers you know will do a good job. Those workers contact every connection they have, and unfortunately, can't find a tile that matches well enough. Then, the worker gets a sample from one of his workers, and it it oh-so-close. Then, he remembers, you know what? I think this is the same tile that my mother-in-law had put down in her basement. Phone call: Mom? Do you still have those left-over tiles from the basement? You do? Can you bring them over here?

Can you see it? Can you believe how well it matches?!?!?!? The tiles cured overnight, and now, they will put the grout in tonight! I will post a picture when it is all done. You won't believe your eyes! Amazing!!!

Today, I choose joy in different evenings that lift my spirits and small miracles that show me how much God cares about the details of my life.

How are you choosing joy today?
