"I'll be old, and you'll be crippled."

Okay, so I am not trying to be indecisive or anything, but... I really don't have any peace at all about doing IVF.  I don't know what's wrong with me.  It sounds like such a perfect option, like we just can't lose.

I was talking to D.T. on the way home for lunch, and I told him that I just don't feel right about the whole thing.  We haven't even actually met with a doctor yet.  I just don't know what to do.  Then, D.T. said to me: "You know, if you did get pregnant, there could be something wrong with the baby.  It could have a birth defect or be sick.  Then, what would we do?  I mean, if that were to happen, later on, I'll (D.T.) be old, and you'll (C.C.) be crippled."

Nice.  Really, really nice.  I told him I was going to blog and that that was going to be my title.  So, there you have it.

Now, what should I do???

Living in His JOY, HOPE, and PEACE...

Talk to God and LISTEN for His answer. He knows.

No one can give you answers, but God. Know that when it is his will, it will fall into place. I tried to adopt two times and it didn't work out. Then, all the sudden I had this baby in my arms and they were asking me to adopt her. Now she is 8 years old. Adoption is a great thing. Don't give up on it. I don't know about ivf. I did some fertility, but didn't go too far into it. There are always risks, whether you have a baby or adopt. Part of being a parent is accepting responsibility no matter what happens. You could adopt a perfectly healthy child and something could happen. I promise you that there aren't "perfect" children out there, no matter where they come from. Whether they are by blood or heart, they all have issues. After all, we are all humans living in a sinful world. But no matter what issues your child has, whether they are health, school, emotional, or success related you will fight for, support, and love that child. I don't even know you, but you remind me of the time when I desperately wanted to be a mommy and I am praying for you and your future family. Isn't it amazing that God already knows???

Follow your heart. Follow Him. Be still. Listen. Trust your instincts.

God does have a plan for you. I'd imagine it's very frustrating trying to figure out what it is, though. Trust Him with all of your heart. He will lead you down the path you need to go down...in His time.

Hang in there, dear.

If you don't have a peace about it than you shouldnt' do it. You will know if it is the right thing for you by hearing His still small voice. Follow your heart.

I have always followed "my gut feeling". If I have any doubts about something I don't do it. I think you should continue to pray on this. Maybe go see that doctor and see what they have to say. If it still doesn't feel right to you then don't do it.
