Wordful Wednesday ~ Wise words from a wise man...

As I muddle my way through this time of waiting, some days are better than others... which obviously make some days worse than others.

On those days, I have found particular encouragement in listening to a sermon on CD by this man whose picture I shared with you last week. I know I've listened to this 46 1/2 minute discourse [read: very long kick in the pants] at least 5 times in the past two weeks. I had forgotten how much I missed hearing his booming voice, but I had forgotten even more just how poignant his words really were. I really wish you could hear it too, but I have searched and searched and it is nowhere online.

So, I thought I would share a few notes I jotted down as I listened. There is lots more, but this is just a taste...

***

Confess the sin of discouragement.

Romans 14:23
Whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Faith is taking God at His word regardless of the circumstances.

Discouragement is believing the circumstances in spite of what God said.

If we can't learn how to live victoriously in trouble, we're never going to be victorious period.

Determine regardless of all circumstances... though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him...

because you don't determine a person's greatness by their talent or wealth, as the world does, but rather by what it takes to discourage you.
