I have a confession to make. I gave my husband some advice that turned bad :-( and he listened to me. I feel horrible.
I don't know whether to recommend to husbands to not listen to their wives overzealous, well-meaning advice or to wives to restrain themselves from giving said overzealous, well-meaning advice. Maybe I should just go out of the recommendation-making, advice-giving business. It's much safer for me and less painful for those on the receiving end.
You see, when we went for our annual dental cleaning the other week, the dentist said that DoubleT needed a crown on one of his teeth. He didn't want to do it (really bad dental experiences as a child in Romania), but I told him he really needed to or it would get worse. Great advice from someone who has never had a crown herself. So, what did he do? He kept his appointment for 7:30 this morning. We had to get up REALLY early for him to bring me to work first so that he could have the car. I even prayed for him out loud on our way to campus (if you really know me, you know that this is something I don't like to do at all!).
So, what went wrong? Well, aside from the expected pain and yuckiness from novocaine and drilling, the dentist told him that in order to "protect" the temporary crown, he can't eat pretty much anything until the permanent crown is put in. When will that be? 4 weeks!!! And we are going on a trip to Cleveland in two weeks! That really bites! You would think that they would have told him about the restrictions BEFORE his visit so that we could have considered the schedule. You would also think that my common sense would have made me realize that there would be restrictions. You would think that the process would take less than 4 weeks!!!
I guess there's not much we can do about it now, so we're gonna have to get creative! :-) What's for dinner?
