Commencement...

Forgive me for this brief interlude from my previous subject. I will return to that momentarily. However, I am compelled to share a few details of the current events of my life. What's going on, you ask? I am about to embark on an interesting adventure, the details of which remain quite unclear at the moment. But, it is exciting... Commencement. In the educational world, this may be considered the end of a journey. However, the word "commencement" is actually defined as "the beginning of something".

9 years ago, I gave up the idea of ever completing my degree. Reacting in fear to the uncertain circumstances of my life, I found it easiest (i.e., more comfortable) to simply stop everything I was doing. Unfortunately, comfort has a bad habit of breeding complacency. It's kind of like running in place. You get tired from the activity, bored with the lack of scenery, and frustrated that you really haven't gotten anywhere at all. At that time, I never expected to be where I am today. Yet, here I am. I just turned 30 (wow, that feels weird), and this Saturday, I will finally graduate with my bachelor's degree.

So, what's next? Where will I go? What will I do? Who knows... except God, of course! For now, I will be content (not complacent) where He has placed me until He shows me something new. I am certain that whatever He has for me will be exciting. After all, it's not the end. It's just the beginning!

My Sweet Erin, I can remember like it was yesterday talking to you and Daniel about what God had in store for both of you. At the time, I would venture to say that your eyes could have never seen, your ears could have never heard, nor your minds ever imagined what God has done since then. Think back and fall to your knees in adoration and worship. Then start dreaming big because your eyes haven't seen, nor your ears heard, nor your minds imagine what God has purposed for the both of you. I want to shout Glory! I'll be watching the journey shouting for you all the way!
